AC Oil Refrigerant Oil Quantities 2015-2016
Lubrication
Technical Information & offer
Function The A/C loop’s performance and longevity depends on the refrigerant oil as: l It helps cooling down the compressor and removing impurities from the system. l It also keeps the A/C loop sealed by reinforcing each component’s watertightness. l It prevents damages to the compressor by lubricating moving parts. Each oil is specific to the compressor type and car application.
Replacement Refrigerant oil has to be reinjected every time there is a maintenance or repair operation on the A/C loop. Below are some typical problems due to refrigerant oil: l Use of inappropriate type of refrigerant oil l Lack / excess of refrigerant oil l Internal corrosion due to the presence of humidity in the A/C loop l A/C loop blocked (filter drier & expansion valve blocked)
Recommendations l Choose the compatible refrigerant oil (type, quantity and viscosity) with the compressor type, refrigerant fluid and car application:
l Never expose refrigerant oil to ambient air l It is essential to add oil when: - Refilling the A/C loop with refrigerant - 10 mL - Replacing the condenser - 20 mL Find also at www.valeo-techassist.com a cross list with compressor section and refrigerant data per car manufacturer - Replacing the compressor - check quantity in catalogue - Replacing the receiver drier & hoses - 15 mL - Replacing the accumulator - 50 mL - Replacing the evaporator - 30 mL l Appropriate protection should be worn: working clothes, safety gloves & goggles
