Preventative maintenance Recommendations for Concentric Slave Cylinder

4.3 Recommendations for Concentric Slave Cylinder 4.3.1 Prior to Fitting the C.S.C.

4.3.2 Fitting tips & specific warnings for hydraulic systems When removing the clutch and the transmission with a closed hydraulic circuit, the clutch pedal must not be operated. Should this occur, it will over-extended the C.S.C. piston, possibly damaging the piston sealing lip, causing hydraulic fluid loss and resulting in clutch operating issues. The natural temptation to manually compress the C.S.C. to "check" its operation should be resisted as this can result in seal damage.

Attention Ɂ Ɂ Choosing the correct part

Attention Ɂ Ɂ Clean parts ● ● Dirt present will result in uneven mounting causing: Contamination by gearbox oil results in swelling of C.S.C. internal seals and failure C.S.C. sleeve to move backwards resulting in leakage of hydraulic fluid ● ● Ensure that the contact surfaces of the bell housing are clean and that there is no dirt or grease present. Do not use brake cleaner as a cleaning agent.

Attention Ɂ Ɂ No compressing of parts ● ● C.S.C. internal seal losing integrity results in leakage of hydraulic fluid.

Ensure that you have the correct part by comparing the new replacement part to the old part removed from the vehicle. Advice   Using the wrong CSC part may obstruct the clutch system.  Check the product's physical aspect by comparing with the worn part.

Advice   Do not compress the C.S.C. prior to the fitting.

Advice   Clean parts.

 Ensure that the contact surfaces of the bell housing are clean and that there is no dirt or grease present.  Do not use brake cleaner as a cleaning agent.

C.S.C. Filling and Bleeding With the clutch fitted, the C.S.C. installed in the clutch bell housing and the transmission fully mounted to the engine flange, the C.S.C. should be filled with hydraulic fluid and bled, according to the vehicle manufacturer or to the C.S.C. manufacturer’s instructions. Careful attention to the aforementioned recommen- dations should enable rapid tracing and rectification of faults and ensure long and reliable operation of replacement components.
