Valeo Truck clutch products meet the highest quality standards / specifications and confirm its leading position with its new warranty service. As of July 1 st 2016, Valeo Service will extend its Truck clutch warranty scheme to: l 2 years l Unlimited mileage l Europe wise The 2 years warranty term coupled with unlimited mileage all over Europe are unique in the industry. The countries covered by the new warranty scheme are European Union 28 countries added by Norway, Iceland, Switzerland, Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia, Bosnia, Albania & Kosovo. The Truck clutch products include: l Product sizes start from 267mm up to 430mm. l Complete kits l Single components as cover assembly, driven plates and release bearing l New and remanufactured

Products concerned by this warranty period extension are cover, discs, release bearing and kits for diameter >= 267 mm for trucks. This warranty period modification applies only to Amiens and Bursa production, Agriculture applications are not concerned by this warranty period extension. 5.2 Limitation to the offer “All warranty cover is excluded if the defect is caused by abnormal conditions of utilization, including overloads, automobile races and rallies, defective maintenance, any application not initially specified or contrary to the precautionary utilization instructions supplied with the product, other components or parts of the vehicle or additional equipment, inappropriate storage, assembly not conforming with the instructions and specifications of Valeo Service, or which is contrary to the rules of the art, or normal wear of the products.”

a sensitive device 6.2 Fitting rules Fitting rules relies on a few good practices to avoid typical issues on clutch components and sub- components.

Despite very heavy metal parts and a robust looking, Heave Duty clutch systems are sensitive devices. While they can last hundreds of thousands kilometers and more, they can as well be damaged in a relative short period of time in case of bad handling, poor fitting practices or severe usage and abuse. 6.1 Handling issues Any shock on cover side can damage the straps, definitely disqualifying the part for any future use.

OIL CONTAMINATIONS are sources of friction slippage and overheat; they must be checked and solved prior to any new further operation.

The flywheel friction surface must be exempt of any pollution prior to fit a new friction disc. The pilot bearing must be changed at each clutch replacement as a good practice.

FITTING PINS (1) must be put in place onto the flywheel to receive and support the coming cover assembly prior to screw it onto the flywheel, pins are then removed and replaced by fixing screws, the amount of pins depends on the application.

THE FRICTION DISC must be centered with the appropriate tool (2) prior to fit the cover assembly. Contrary to some belief, splines do not necessarily all require to be lubricated, please refer the fitting instructions, nevertheless the gearbox primary axle splines always requires to be cleaned with care.

THE PRESSURE PLATE COVER ASSEMBLY can be a cause of clutch failure related to shocks of stress during fitting onto the flywheel. Follow specific Valeo installation instructions Fitting pins must be used, they have two roles: l they ease the fitting by centering the cover assembly onto the flywheel l they ease the fitting by supporting part of the cover assembly weight (up to 40kg) before the screwing operation 1 10 9

The cover assembly must be screwed according to the sequence defined in Valeo fitting instructions. Impact wrench is not allowed to fix the cover assembly, a torque wrench is nevertheless mandatory. 7

Clutch linkage types are numerous and all require a particular attention before reinstalling the gearbox to the engine, the bearing The release bearing connection system is disconnected, broken or snatched. l Snap ring or locking ring not well positioned in

locking to the diaphragm fingers and preload being on top of the points to secure. Some common failures are the following:

the bearing groove or deformed during assembly. Follow specific Valeo installation instructions for snap in/off release bearing.

Diaphragm fingers worn by the bearing (inlay, wear or breakage of diaphragm fingers). l Clutch linkage issue /Insufficient bearing preload (wear due to slippage between bearing and diaphragm fingers) Verify the condition of clutch linkage and make adjustment according to manufacturer’s recommendations.

7 Do not confuse facings normal wear and failure! No standard lifespan!

The clutch wear relates to how often and how long the clutch was engaged. From refuse truck to distribution trucks, construction trucks, coaches and long haulage trucks, the clutch facings wear, and thus what can be defined as normal lifespan, will notably differ. Care should be taken not to mix normal wear and product failure. Robotized gearboxes represent today more than 60% of the market; this technology offers a better control of the clutch improving the friction durability.

No clutch standard lifespan! Vehicles categories have their own driving profiles, multiple profiles leads to multiple clutch facings lifespan and care should be taken not to confuse normal wear and product failure.

7.1 What if a failure case must be reported? Any claim under warranty must be accompanied by a full report, established by the customer in accordance with Valeo Service quality procedures. Furthermore, Valeo Service will be entitled to call for return of the defective product in order to carry out a technical appraisal or visual inspection.
