Gas-discharge lamps

In gas-discharge lamps the radiated light output is derived from a plasma arc discharge within an arc tube. Gas-discharge lamps do not have a filament as used in a Halogen lamp. Instead an arc is created between two electrodes in a quartz bulb which is filled with a mixture of noble gases and metal halide salts.
