Preventative maintenance Recommendations for correct assembly of a clutch kit

2. Cover assembly with Snap-on/off release bearing

Attention Ɂ Ɂ Make sure that the release bearing/fork contacts are maintained when assembling the gearbox.

●● Install the release bearing on tube guide (for other types of bearing like Pull type Snap-on/off or Push type). ●● Install the fork linkage devices (lock-pins, retainers, slots….) when the linkage is not of permanent contact (adjustment made at the release bearing position). ●● Rotate the release bearing ears to be on the fork contact areas (this operation is sometimes done during the assembly of the gearbox).

The snapping operation is done by pushing strongly (using a lever arm) on the fork or fork connecting rod. For manual snapping system, it is necessary to close the snap ring before the snapping operation.

Advice   Followstrictly themanufacturer's instructions during the installation of the linkage mounting devices.

As the release bearing/fork contact surface is the whole circle, it is not necessary to rotate/position the release bearing. 

Snap-on operation

Snap-on method 1. Make sure that the snap ring is closed. Then approach the bearing nose to the bearing plate. 2. Enlarge the snap ring on the conical nose of the bearing. 3. Compress the Siamese elastic washer. 4. Push the bearing against the bearing plate until the washer is completely compressed. 5. The snap ring is well installed in the groove once the pushing force is released.

Attention Ɂ Ɂ If the snapping operation is not properly done, there is a high risk that the release bearing could be disconnected during the vehicle's usage. Advice   To insure a good snapping operation, it is necessary to push up to the point where the release bearing cannot move.
