i-StARS scalability

Valeo offers a range of i-StARS machines to deal with gasoline or diesel engines, from 40Nm (1,2kW) to 70Nm (2,3kW) in starter mode and from 150A to 220A in alternator mode. All i-StARS machines are 14v board-net compatible, they are designed in 3 to 7 phases according to power needs and are based on different stator diameter:

Since 2017 the third generation is ready for Mild- Hybrid entry applications, it features among others: higher energy recovery ability and a PWM torque management for:

●● an improved efficiency in starter mode ●● for board-net voltage ripple reduction ●● for belt drive drivability optimization.

The i-StARS-Gen3 Stop-Start cycling range is extended to 1.000.000 for high speed coasting & reflex start features.
