VS - Electrical Systems From Stop-Start to Hybridization
State of Charge (SoC) State of Charge (SoC) is an expression of the present battery capacity as a percentage of maximum capacity; it is calculated to determine the change in battery capacity over time. Battery can be seen as a reservoir of energy in Ah (Amperes during hours). The amount of Ah at a given time rated to its capacity is called the state of charge, it is expressed in %. There is always some debate about this definition. It can be: ●● The percentage of remaining capacity versus the effective capacity ●● The percentage of remaining capacity versus the nominal capacity The State Of Charge is about energy capacity evolution: ●● State Of Charge varies from 0 (discharged battery) to 100% (charged battery.) ●● Depth of Discharge (DoD), a complementary definition is also used: DOD=100%-SOC
